Assist News Service Reviews “Amazing” Book
Posted on October 17, 2011 by Julia

Assist News Service (ANS) calls my book, Little Texas Sweetheart, “a gripping first-hand account of the terror of domestic violence.”

The book review and article, written by ANS correspondent Michael Ireland, appears in the Thursday, Oct. 13 edition of Assist News.

Here’s a quote from my interview with Mr. Ireland:

“My crusade is to raise awareness in society of the scourge among us, I also want victims to know that they deserve to have a full and happy life. I point the way to where and how abused women can find help and the new life, happiness, and self-respect they deserve.”

I’m thrilled to get the positive media coverage, especially in light of October being National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If my book can help one person, one family, it’s worth it.

We tend to want things to happen on our time schedule.  God’s timing is perfect.  He does not adhere to our small sense of time.  When He is ready He leads us to the next step on our journey to oneness with Him.

I am very eager to get Little Texas Sweetheart into many hands so that the news about how God can help the helpless will be spread far and wide.  I keep looking for ways to accomplish this aim.  He sends help, when He is ready, from unexpected quarters.

I have just experienced His grace in a very big way.  Yesterday I traveled with a close friend to Costa Mesa to the recording studios of KWVE 107.9 FM and 88.9 FM radio.  I was interviewed by Dan Wooding, internationally known journalist and great Christian leader.  We talked about the book and its intended impact on Domestic Violence. The interview will be aired around the world on the Sunday evening radio show, Front Page Radio.  The exact date will be announced soon, and I will let you know.

To further show God’s power and grace, Dan is planning another interview.  This time the interview will be on his live television show, His Channel Live!  I eagerly look forward to that opportunity to spread God’s story of healing and love.

The loud and clear message to my heart is that God is in control.  He holds our lives in His hands.  When we are willing to be used, He will use us when and where He chooses.  My prayer is that the story of how Jesus changed my life from despair to triumph and peace in Him will lead others to that great joy and peace.
God’s Timing

On March 27, 2012, my husband and I traveled to Santa Ana, CA to participate in a thirty-minute video discussion with Dan Wooding, internationally known journalist and interviewer.  Dan is the founder and spark behind ASSIST Ministries, an organization that gets the word out about the persecution of Christians around the world.  Dan interviewed us about Little Texas Sweetheart as a miraculous story.  My eight children and I beat the odds and instead of becoming statistics of domestic abuse, we survived and went on to thrive. We found love, meaning in our lives and happiness.  We stand as testimonies to the courage of the human spirit and the persistence of hope.

I found love and companionship in the heart of a good man who cares for me and all of my children.  He brought into my life three step-daughters and one grand-daughter who have also enriched my life.  We now have fifteen grandchildren and eight sons and daughters-in-law and also one grand-son-in-law!

I stand to challenge every woman who is in an abusive situation to get smart and get out.  He won’t change, but you can.
